Gourmet Festival Düsseldorf

For foodies looking for a grand culinary spectacle, Europe’s largest open-air food event is transforming the famous Königsallee boulevard. Spanning the canal-lined street with upwards of 220 premium food trucks, pagoda tents, and international gourmet stalls serving everything from classic street food to fine dining.

British Weekend Bad Lippspringe

Fancy an authentic slice of Anglo-Scottish culture? The beautiful Gartenschau Bad Lippspringe is throwing a two-day British party. Wander down the promenade to find traditional pipe bands, a classic car display, an outdoor pub quiz, and a marketplace selling authentic fudge, tea, whiskey, and gin.

  • Opening Hours: Daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Ticket Cost: This is a park special event, covered by the regular day ticket price. Adults are €12, and children (age up to 17) are Free

12th Highland Games at Maximilianpark Hamm
Pull on a kilt, and head over to the lawn by the giant glass elephant. The athletic clans are back to battle it out in traditional Scottish disciplines like caber tossing (throwing tree trunks), tug-of-war, and stone throwing, all set to the soundtrack of the Highland Dragon Pipe Band. Saturday features the intense adult clan competition, while Sunday opens up the fields for the kids to try out the disciplines.
  • Dates: Saturday, August 22nd and Sunday, August 23rd, 2026
  • Opening Hours: Saturday team check-ins and march-ins begin at 9:30 AM, with games running until roughly 6:30 PM. Sunday's children's activities run from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
  • Ticket Cost: No special event ticket required; included in standard park admission. Adults are €7, children (ages 3–17) are €4, and a large family pass (2 adults + up to 3 children) is €19.00. (Annual pass holders enter free).

Ludwigsburg Pumpkin Festival  (Drive time 5 hrs)
You could also make a longer trip south to the grand Palace Gardens of Blühendes Barock. The world's largest pumpkin exhibition is returning with this year's theme: "LET'S PLAY". Witness over 450,000 pumpkins and 600 unique varieties sculpted into mind-boggling, larger-than-life character displays like Super Mario and Barbie, alongside a massive menu of pumpkin soup, waffles, and local delicacies.
  • Dates: Sunday, August 23rd to Sunday, November 1st, 2026
  • Opening Hours: Main exhibition is open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. (The palace park itself is open from 7:30 AM to 8:30 PM).
  • Ticket Cost: Covered by general garden admission. Adults are €14, and children (ages 4–15) are €6.00. Buy online tickets to get a discount.
