Have You Experienced an Overseas Posting?

Your story could help improve support for military families.

RAND Europe has been asked by the Army Families Federation, RAF Families Federation and Naval Families Federation to carry out an important study on the experiences of UK military families during overseas postings.

They want to hear what life is really like.

✅ Before a posting
✅ During a posting
✅ After returning home

Whether your experience was positive, challenging, or a mix of both, your views matter.

Who can take part?

You may be eligible if, within the last 3 years, you:

• Considered an overseas posting (even if you did not go)
• Completed an accompanied overseas posting with your family
• Were separated from your partner due to an unaccompanied posting

Families of soldiers and ex-serving soldiers are especially encouraged to take part.

Why get involved?

This is your chance to:

🔹 Help shape future support for military families
🔹 Highlight real challenges and successes
🔹 Ensure family voices are heard by decision-makers
🔹 Make a difference for families who follow in your footsteps

The findings will support the Valuing Forces Families Overseas (VFFO) Programme, helping identify where extra support is needed across the Armed Forces community.

What do I need to do?

Taking part starts with a short Expression of Interest form:

If eligible, you'll be invited to join an online focus group and share your experiences.
