Support resources, including during Block Leave: Stay Connected

The following guidance applies during both leave periods and working periods:
Make time for people – Stay connected with family, friends and colleagues. Checking in on a friend, spending quality time with loved ones or reaching out to someone you have not spoken to for a while can make a real difference.Look out for yourself and others – Resilience is strengthened through connection, belonging and support. Encourage people to reach out when they need help and take the time to check in on those who may be spending leave alone.Alongside the resources on the poster, for additional sources of support please also see the HIVE Health & Wellbeing information sheet, which can be downloaded HERE from a personal device.

Please contact HIVE if further information may assist.

VIRTUAL CHAT HV and Virtual New Parents Group

SSAFA's Virtual New Parent Group Sessions are open to all military families living in remote areas as a way to connect with other parents in similar situations. Although there will be a health visitor present to answer any questions, the floor is open to talk about whatever you want - from sleep, feeding or just general parental frustrations with no judgment or anything.

Our online CHAT HV sessions are open to all military parents across all time zones. These informal sessions cover a different topic each month to help guide and support you through the different stages of your parenting journey. These are a great way for you to meet other families from around the world and make connections, especially when living in a host country that has different practices with regards to new mum groups etc.

If anyone wants anymore information or to register for an online session, please either speak to your Health Visitor or email us on UKStratCom-DMS-DPHC-NYG-SSAFA@mod.gov.uk

BELGIUM: Top Tips Number Two for Keeping Cool in this Heat

TOP TIPS IN THE HEAT WITH YOUR HISO:

Further to my previous top tip at the end of last month regarding keeping cool overnight by using a frozen hot water bottle, here is my Top Tip number 2:

Keep your skincare, body creams, sun cream, after sun and a water spray in the fridge; this is the perfect way to cool down at any time during the day.

NB if you are a retinol/retinal user, keep these out of the fridge.

SHAPE: MyZone at SHAPE

Sgt Boothby has been successful in obtaining funding to get a license to manage Myzone at SHAPE.

He is currently working on another bid to get more Myzone belts; this will allow belts to be available to the SHAPE community at a big discount. Usually priced at £139.99, they will be on offer via Sgt Boothby for €50. The money raised through sales will then go towards prizes.

A fabulous, healthy initiative to get involved in and kick start that Summer Bod!

BELGIUM: CHAT HV Programme at SHAPE House, Coming Soon

SSAFA's CHAT HV program is coming soon to SHAPE House.

This program gives military families access to informal parental support whilst also giving them the opportunity to build friendships and support networks. SSAFA recognise that parenting can be a lonely experience and for some in remote military locations this can be exacerbated by local practices. This program aims to break this barriers down.

Although Florence the Health Visitor will be in attendance, any discussions will be parent-led with the opportunity to have some Health Visitor support if needed.

These sessions are open to anyone across the UK military network.

More information to follow!
