Brunei: DIO - how to relight a pilot light on a gas boiler

How to relight a pilot light on a gas boiler!

The recent gas supply outage has resulted in no hot water in many houses that have manual gas boilers. There are different types of gas boilers in our estate, and the pilot light in each must be ignited manually to resume the hot water supply.

The QR code takes you to a video explaining how to relight the pilot light after outage for four different types of gas boilers in the BFB Estate. If you are still experiencing issues after this, please inform the DIO Helpdesk.

BRUNEI: Transitional mentoring for Service Leavers from SSAFA

SSAFA's mentors provide long-term, one-to-one, face-to-face support during transition and, for up to two years, post discharge. They work alongside the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the British Army, the Royal Air Force and other key partners to provide this service.

The SSAFA mentor programme is well established in helping those who have recently left the forces, and their families, understand and prosper during the transition to civilian life. The mentors will provide reassurance in the face of an often daunting time. They will help you with confidence and relationship issues, particularly in relation to the differences between a military and civilian environment.

BRUNEI: Prohibited Electrical Item

Reminder to BFB SLA and SFA Occupants

Please DO NOT USE the multi-way wall plug adaptor, as shown in the pictures below. This has very high risk of electric fire and electricity related H&S issues.

If the occupants in SLA require adaptor for their non-UK plug electrical appliances, they must have PAT tested adaptor that complies with the equivalent UK specification such as BS8546 and BS1363.

DIO(B) is happy to convert the non-UK plug to UK three pin plug by cutting and reinstalling the three pin UK plug. This is only if the occupants are happy with the process as this may void the appliance’s warranty.

The pictures below were obtained from one of the BFB estate recently

BRUNEI: IBTE Sultan Bolkiah Campus 5K Run Event - Tuesday, 12th May 2026, 0900 - 1000 hrs @ Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Sultan Bolkiah Campus, Seria

We would like to inform you that the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Sultan Bolkiah Campus, Seria will be organising a 5.0 KM Run Event as follows:

Date:    Tuesday, 12th May 2026
Time:    0900 - 1000
Route:   Covers part of Jalan Dua Selatan

It is a project handled by our NTec in Business Management students as part of their ‘Event Planning and Administration’ assessment.

The run will take place at 0900, starting and finishing at our campus (as indicated on the above map). The designated route will cover part of Jalan Dua Selatan, passing through some of the housing areas before looping back towards the institute.

As part of our safety and coordination planning, we just wanted to ensure awareness and check if there are any concerns or procedures we should follow.

During this period, as our students will be using one lane of the road, this might cause occasional slowdowns for personnel and family members commuting between 0900 and 0945.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation in advance.

Should any further clarification be required, please do not hesitate to contact me Teacher Muhammad Afif (+673 830 5971 afif.abubakar@ibte.edu.bn).
