Germany: Guide for the Weekend and Beyond

Hello everyone!  A great few weeks ahead in the runup to Christmas. Community volunteers are shining bright with art and craft classes.

In addition the Community organised Spouses and Partners "Roaring 20s" Christmas event. is on the 27th November.  this is our Halloween weekend too and then the Garrison fireworks show next week.

Stay Safe in the Dark: A Message from the GSM

Before we dive into the fun, we have an important safety reminder from the GSM. Lately, there have been too many near misses on camp during the dark hours. Let us look out for each other and keep everyone safe!

  • Pedestrians and Runners: You must wear a high-visibility vest or belt. Please stay on the footpaths whenever they are available.
  • Cyclists: You must wear high-visibility gear and make sure your bike lights are working perfectly.

Spooky Halloween Fun

Halloween is here, and it is time for some spooky adventures!

Trick or Treating: Ready for sweets and goodies? Look for houses with lights on and Halloween decorations displayed. If they are decorated, they are ready for trick-or-treaters! Be sure to check all the patches so you do not miss any houses.

Bad Lippspringe Gartenschau Take the family out for a wonderful Spooky Walk in the park on the 30th and 31st. More details here.

Early Christmas Cheer & Winter Magic

If you love the holidays, you do not have to wait until December to start celebrating!

  • Essen-Steele Christmas Market: The very first Christmas market of the year starts this weekend! Steele is a district in Essen (about a 1-hour and 45-minute drive) that proudly hosts the earliest market every year. This year is their big 50th Anniversary! Starting October 30th, you can enjoy festive food, drinks, and live music. Don't miss the brand-new "singing Christmas tree" stage at Kaiser-Otto-Platz for holiday carols, and take a stroll through the lovely new "Steele Christmas Forest."

  • The Spouses'  and Partners Christmas Event: Get ready to dress up! The Sergeant's Mess is the stage  for the "Roaring 20s" themed Christmas party on November 27th. Grab your tickets from Community Support  in  Brydon House, or check Facebook and Patch Chat for more details. The event is organised by volunteers from the community so lets do all we can to support them!

Looking Ahead

The excitement does not stop here. Get ready for the massive Soest All Saints Fair happening next week from November 4th to November 8th. It is one of the biggest celebrations around, so do not miss it!  Soest is a 48 min drive from Sennelager. A Shuttle Bus runs from the Kaufland store car park to the city centre.  which is probably the best bet for finding parking. P&R map link here.

Have a safe, fun, and wonderful weekend!
