Germany: Guide for the Weekend

Autumn is here it brings us pumpkins, autumn leaves, and tasty treats. We have put together a selection of events for this weekend and next for you to visit 


Close to Home: 

Bad Lippspringe Stadtfest

Drive time: Just down the road

  • When: 9th - 11th October
  • Cost: Free entry for everyone.

The Best Bits:

  • Funfair Rides: A funfair with rides and food will be open all three days from 11:00.
  • Friday Night Party: Listen to fun music on the big stage at 19:00.
  • Sunday Shopping & Parade: Shops will be open on Sunday afternoon. You can also watch a magical parade with famous fairy tale characters at 14:30.

Note: The famous rubber duck race on the water is cancelled this year.

Day Trips for the Weekend

Bad Sassendorf (Autumn Market in the Park)

  • Drive time: 49 minutes
  • When: 10th - 11th October. Open from 11:00 to 18:00.
  • Cost: Free entry.

What you will see:

This is a traditional country market inside a beautiful park. There are 90 market stalls for you to see. Where can buy pumpkins, sweet jams, and pretty things for your home. You can even watch real craftsmen make things by hand, like a real blacksmith.

Lüdenscheid (Night of Culture)

  • Drive time: 1 hour 35 minutes
  • When:10th October, 2026. Open from 18:00 to 22:00.
  • Cost: Free entry. There is even a free shuttle bus to take you around!

What you will see:

The whole town comes alive in the evening! There are 15 places to visit. You can see glowing lights on the walls of buildings, watch a fun family circus show at 18:45, or play with moving LEGO models and iPads at the library.

Schloss Dyck (Castle Autumn Festival)

  • Drive time: 2 hours
  • When: 9th - 11th  October , 2026. Open from 10:00 to 18:00.
  • Cost: It is best to buy tickets online. Adults are €18.50, and kids aged 7 to 16 are €3. Young children under 7 get in free.

What you will see:

This festival is set around a real castle complete with a moat. There are over 130 stalls with autumn flowers, warm clothes, and tasty warm food. Kids can dance to fun music and carve funny faces into real pumpkins. Dogs are welcome on a leash.

If you can travel further, you can check out these other locations for autumn events:

Westfalenpark Autumn festival 11th October (1 hour 20 minutes away) A market of food and crafts opens up.  the €8 entry ticket allows you to enjoy all the attractions on offer in the park. which includes playgrounds, a tram service and cable car.


Wisentgehege  Springe Pumpkin festival 11th October  tickets to the park are €14 for over 18 years and €10 for 3-17 years (1 hour 20 minutes away) Pumpkin festival. Between the Bison enclosure and the wolf pack enjoy a day in the park and a small Pumpkin festival.


Lennestadt  16th - 18th October  Street Food Festival and Autumn Fair. (1 hour 45 minutes away) 

Freudenberg  18th - 19th (2 hours 10 minutes away) The autumn and medieval market in Freudenberg offers a diverse selection of stalls for all ages. On the third weekend of October, the traditional autumn and medieval market returns.
