Gibraltar: 'Borrowbox' Digital Library Campaign

Gibraltar Cultural Services, on behalf of the Ministry for Culture, is pleased to announce promotional events that will promote and encourage the further use of BorrowBox.

BorrowBox is an online digital platform that allows selecting and downloading eBooks, newspapers and magazines from our own John Mackintosh Hall Library. It was first introduced at our library in 2022 and has been a great success since its inception, with over 1,000 members so far. BorrowBox allows members to access the library 24/7 on their personal device at their own comfort.

The campaign will begin on Tuesday 2nd December 2025 with a pop-up exhibition at the Piazza in Main Street from 10am - 2pm. This display will provide information on BorrowBox as well as membership forms. This will be followed by a visit to both Westside and Bayside Schools on Wednesday 3rd December to promote the easy-to-use app service with our young community. The campaign will end on Thursday 4th December with support at the John Mackintosh Hall foyer from 10am – 2pm. This will offer a further opportunity for the public to ask further questions.

This campaign reflects GCS’s mission to promote and encourage reading. GCS aims to inspire the community on new ways of engaging with reading, via up-to-date technology, whilst meeting the public at accessible and suitable venues.
